MTC Experience

What a glorious week it was!  It was inspiring and motivating!  We loved experiencing it all!!! (However, I personally did not like to roleplay! 😅 Just saying!)  As we pulled in, we were welcomed by cheering younger missionaries.  Felt like VIP's.  Our housing accommodations were excellent, like a nice hotel room.

We were so inspired by all the younger Elders and Sisters who are going all over the world.  Elder Peterson loved visiting with the Mongolian bound Sisters and Elders.  Since he has been to Mongolia, he loved showing them that it was a balmy 5 degrees that day.  They are all so vibrant and positive.  They radiated the Light of Christ in their eyes.

Every devotional was so uplifting.  I got to participate in the MTC choir the night that Elder Marcus B. Nash of the Presidency of the Seventy spoke.  Music is always uplifting and emotional for me.  I can feel the Spirit through music.  Let's just say that I still can't get through "Called To Serve" without losing it.  (I'm getting better. . . made it to the last verse today before tearing up!)

Before we entered the MTC we had 2 days of "Home MTC" training via ZOOM.  It was conducted by the Military Relations Directors in Salt Lake.  There are currently 125 couples serving as Military Relations Missionaries (MRM) throughout the world.   There were 11 couples on the ZOOM training and three of them were in the MTC with us.  We were together with them in a district all week.  Our favorite day of training at the MTC was our Military Relations training day.  They held a special ceremony where the Sisters were inducted into the Order of Ruth and where our husbands presented us with a beautiful Order of Ruth medallion.  We reviewed the story of Ruth in the Bible, where Ruth sacrificed and was faithful to the covenant and family.  It was a beautiful experience.  The Military also likes challenge coins.  The Elders were presented with a challenge coin depicting "Putting on the Whole Armor of God."  We learned that our role as Military Relations Missionaries is to connect military members, veterans, and their families to Jesus Christ.   We are also to develop positive relationships with Chaplains of other denominations.

We feel so blessed to have been called to serve in beautiful San Diego and to be a representative of Jesus Christ.  I finally have my name badge!  I am so grateful to wear His name as a daily reminder of His hope and love for all Heavenly Father's children.  Love to you all!!
